2-2-01  Public Developement of Hot_Bot Stopped

I have come to this decision after a lot of thought, and I have decided to no longer update the Hot_Bot page or release newer versions of my bot.  This is a result of a combination of factors, but many because I just don't have the time anymore to work on my bot.  I will most likely continue to work some with the bot, but I want to work without release deadlines and focus more on programming real AI instead adding other features. If you're new to the site, the bot is still available for download, so go get it :)  I'd like to thank all of you who downloaded my bot, it was really awesome to see the massive number of people who played each version.  I'd also like to specially thank my beta testers, OZZman, the crews at the major half-life, frontline and bot sites, and of course Botman and those in his forum.  So, with that Hot_Bot will disappear from the HL scene, but I won't rule out the possibility for a later return to the bot scene.  Thanks for all the support :)

1-19-01  Comments, Map Reports and Bugs report HERE!

Thanx for all the good map reports and other suggestions I've been getting by email and a few in the forum too.  Keep them coming, they help a lot :)  As for me, I've had a nice break and its back to work for me.  I've been trying to observe combat on several FLF servers, but it seems I always get a little TOO involved with the games to notice ;)  But I will start to implement class specific combat code and also work on stopping the bots from drowning.  After I get a few more reports I will post a map report.  I've also been trying Hot_Bot out on "unofficial maps" from the Blueprint mapping site, its pretty cool.  I will be gone at a 40 hour trivia marathon this weekend, but I will try to get some work done today and update again on Monday.  Remember, every report helps!

1-15-01  Beta 1 Release!  Capture Points and Doors implemented

Download here

Check out new forum to report bugs and request features for the next version here

I am proud to announce (finally) announce the first official release of Hot_Bot, Beta 1 !  New features add greatly to the number of maps Hot_Bot can be used on, as well as how well it simulates a human player.  New features include:

-Capture points implemented
-Door usage implemented
-Multiround bug fixed
-Bot Warmup is perfect
-Team Capture code (bots choose cp as a team and attack)
-"Small room bug" and other misc. bug fixes

Also, the site's new forum is a huge improvement, so be sure to check it out to report bugs and fixes.  I am also giving Hot_Bot users the chance to choose which features I will work on next, so go to the forum and tell me!

Unfortunately, as you can see the web site has still not be updated, because the web designer is sick :( but hopefully the new page will be up by tomorrow.  Enjoy the new bot and be sure to check back at the site for bug fixes and new release info :)
